Our Mission
We believe that voting is the most important thing you can do for the environment!
North Carolina has a number of environmental advocacy organizations working to fight climate change by advocating for stronger, more equitable environmental policies and protections for our communities. And some of us work to hold our decision-makers accountable at the ballot box by electing candidates to our State Legislature and other offices who will put climate, the environment, environmental justice, and democracy first.
To prevent the worst impacts of the climate crisis, we need leaders at all levels of government who will prioritize our public health, invest in a just transition to a clean energy economy, advance equitable solutions for our most impacted communities, and protect our environment. This website aggregates the endorsements of leading environmental organizations in the state in order to help voters identify which candidates on their ballot will lead on environmental issues and protect our democracy– so we can elect leaders who share our values.
Each organizations’ endorsement process is different and not every candidate applies for every endorsement, but we hope our combined efforts can raise critical climate issues in every campaign and highlight candidates who will fight to protect our air, land, and water. Read more about each organization and their endorsement process below.
Partner Organizations
The NC League of Conservation Voters, a state environmental advocacy organization, and Conservation Votes PAC, an independent expenditure political action committee, are working to build political power that meets the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges. We work to hold decision-makers accountable for their decisions that impact the environment and our communities, and to elect leaders who will make better environmental decisions. Our vision for the future is a pro-conservation majority in the North Carolina General Assembly, where legislative champions pass equitable environmental safeguards, stand up for democracy, and put people over polluters. To get there, we need more citizens like you –thinking, acting, and voting on behalf of the environment.
The North Carolina Sierra Club is the state Chapter of the largest, oldest, and most influential environmental grassroots organization in the country. The N.C. Chapter has been working for our state’s environment and all who live in it for over 50 years. Its tens of thousands of members and supporters work on behalf of the Club’s mission to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth’s ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives. The League of Conservation Voters is an American environmental advocacy group that advocates for sound environmental laws and policies, holds elected officials accountable for their votes and actions, and elects pro-environment candidates.
The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund’s endorsement program seeks to elect environmental champions who will address the climate crisis and advance a more equitable clean energy future. The LCV Action Fund team evaluates candidates’ policy positions to endorse candidates who can win and who will fight to protect our air, water, and health.
